Safe Tips for Using a Fire Extinguisher (APAR) on a NETA Electric Car
08 July 2025

Jakarta, July 8, 2025 – Electric cars are now becoming a popular choice for daily use, whether for commuting within the city or traveling between cities. A wide variety of electric vehicle models offer many advantages, from futuristic designs to advanced technologies that enhance driving comfort and safety. However, before you start driving, it's important to know about one of the key safety features provided by NETA — the fire extinguisher, or APAR (Alat Pemadam Api Ringan).
For every purchase of a NETA V-II or NETA X unit, customers are required to receive a fire extinguisher (APAR) as a standard part of the vehicle equipment. This complies with the Regulation of the Director General of Land Transportation, Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia No. KP.972/AJ.502/DRJD/2020, which requires fire extinguishers to be available in all motor vehicles, including electric cars.
APARs act as the first line of defense in emergency situations such as small fires caused by electrical short circuits or technical malfunctions. In electric vehicles like the NETA V-II and NETA X, having an APAR is a critical part of the active safety system and offers extra peace of mind for drivers.
NETA Indonesia is committed not only to following government regulations but also to raising safety standards in electric vehicles by including an APAR in every NETA unit delivered to customers.
This initiative is part of NETA’s efforts to ensure that every vehicle owner is prepared to respond quickly and effectively to potential risks — a reflection of our commitment to road safety in the era of eco-friendly transportation.
Here are some tips on how to use the APAR in a NETA electric car:
1. Know the Location of the APAR
In NETA electric cars, the APAR is located inside the glove box on the front passenger side (left side). To access it, simply open the glove box. The location is designed for easy access during emergencies, while still keeping the interior neat and comfortable.
2. Check the Condition of the APAR
After taking out the APAR from the glove box, customers are advised to check its condition. Make sure the safety seal on the extinguisher is still intact — this shows it hasn’t been used. Also check the expiration date printed on the extinguisher, as it typically lasts up to 8 years from the production date. If you need to use it, break the yellow seal on the cylinder before operation.
3. Using the APAR
Once the yellow seal is removed, press the red valve on top of the extinguisher to activate it. Make sure that the white powder or smoke is coming out, which means it’s working correctly. Aim the spray at the source of a small fire to help extinguish it. For complete and accurate instructions, refer to the manual printed directly on the APAR.
Raditio Hutomo, After Sales Director of PT Neta Auto Indonesia, added:
“The APAR in NETA vehicles is specifically meant to be used during emergency situations, such as overheating, sparks, or small fires inside the car. However, it should only be seen as a first-response tool.
We strongly recommend that customers immediately contact the fire department or local authorities to ensure the situation is handled quickly, safely, and thoroughly.”
Raditio also emphasized:
“As part of our safety education efforts, it's important for all NETA electric car owners to understand the potential risks that could lead to short circuits, sparks, or overheating.
A common cause of these risks is the addition or modification of electrical components that don’t meet NETA’s standards — such as aftermarket audio systems, lights, GPS units, or other electronic accessories. These modifications may void your vehicle’s warranty.”
By following the tips above, NETA customers can be better prepared to handle emergency situations quickly and appropriately. Having an APAR not only increases safety while driving but also shows NETA’s strong commitment to offering electric vehicles that are not just eco-friendly, but also focused on user safety.
As part of its innovation and responsibility in the automotive industry, Neta Auto Indonesia continues to work on improving safety standards for all customers. Including an APAR as standard equipment is just one example of this commitment. With NETA, every journey is not only efficient and comfortable — but also safer and more secure.
