Long-Distance Travel with Worry-Free, NETA Electric Vehicles are Safe on Sea Routes

Jakarta, 07 Jan  2024 – Electric vehicles are no longer limited to city travel but can also be relied upon for long-distance journeys, even inter-island trips. Amid the high public interest in traveling, concerns about the risk of electric vehicle fires when transported by sea have arisen. PT NETA Auto Indonesia (NETA), as a leading electric vehicle distributor, affirms that NETA electric vehicles are designed to be safe for all types of travel, including transportation via sea routes.

Fajrul Ilhami, the External Affairs and Product Director of PT NETA Auto Indonesia, stated that to date, there has never been an incident of a fire involving NETA electric vehicles shipped by sea. All Completely Built-Up (CBU) units of NETA electric vehicles produced in China and shipped to various markets, including Indonesia, have been transported by sea without any concerning incidents.

"All units shipped in Completely Built-Up (CBU) condition from China to Indonesia and other global markets have proven that NETA electric vehicles are safe to be distributed via sea routes. Of course, this also means they are safe for travel between islands using ferries and similar vessels, so electric vehicle users do not need to worry about this and can travel safely and comfortably," said Mr. Fajrul.

Januar Eka Sapta, After Sales Senior Manager, added, "One proof that NETA vehicles are safe aboard ferries is NETA's participation in the Jakarta-Mandalika trip during the 2024 PLN Icon Plus event, titled EV Journey. On this journey, NETA vehicles crossed the sea from Ketapang Port (East Java) to Gilimanuk Port (Bali), and from Padang Bai Port (Bali) to Lembar Port (Lombok). Throughout this trip, NETA vehicles were very safe aboard the ferries."

During customers' travels, NETA is also committed to providing peace of mind and comfort by offering 24-hour Roadside Assistance and 24-hour Customer Service to support customers whenever they need help. To support journeys, NETA shares several important tips for electric vehicle users who plan to travel by sea:

  1. Perform a Thorough Vehicle Check Before starting your journey, ensure that the electric vehicle's battery is fully charged, as charging facilities are typically unavailable on sea vessels. Also, make sure the vehicle is in optimal condition by checking the engine, tire pressure, and other essential components before embarking on long trips.
  2. Turn Off the Engine and Engage the Parking Brake When parking the vehicle aboard the ferry, ensure that the engine is turned off and the parking brake is engaged to prevent the vehicle from moving during the voyage.
  3. Follow the Vessel's Guidelines and Procedures Adhere to the directions, regulations, and instructions provided by the ferry regarding parking arrangements and safety measures while aboard the vessel to prevent accidents during the journey.
